JLG was founded by John L. Grove in 1970. John and his brother started off building a crane manufacturing company that became a leading company throughout the country. During a cross country trip with his wife Cora they talked with many people about the products that they offered and how they could expand.
This idea was pushed even further into his mind when he watched as two workers being electrocuted while working on the Hoover Dam on a scaffolding. When he got back to home he worked on brining in partners and hiring twenty workers that would work together to build and sell their first JLG scissor lift.
Today the same basic design for their scissor lifts is still being used – but is combined with modern and innovative technology. They have studied the flaws of previous designs and worked to improve the charging time of the motor to make it more affordable and easier for people to use them.
This allows large corporations to get more work done during the day. They are equipped with two hoses four fittings to provide workers with a cleaner machine that will reduce the amount of service requirements it needs each year. This feature is especially great for preventing leaks.
They are designed with an oscillating axle, 35% grade ability, all wheel drive, and all terrain tires. With these features the user can easily drive from concrete to gravel or other rough terrain with no problems. The JLG scissor lifts have a platform height range between 19 to 40 feet that will cost between $100 to $20,000.
